In Celebration of

Robert Paul Yuzwa

April 9, 1948 -  October 9, 2017

With a heavy heart the family of Robert Paul Yuzwa announces his passing on October 9, 2017 at the age of 69. He is predeceased by his parents Paul and Helene Yuzwa. Robert will be greatly missed by his best friend, wife and cream to his coffee, Gina. He was the devoted father of Tonya, Beth (Mark), Cindy (Steve) and Craig (Sharon). He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchilden Erin, Alexa, Owen, Justin, Quinn and Luke as their fun loving and silly Grandpa. Cherished older brother of Greg (Laurie), Lesya (Karl), Phil (Cheryl), Dan (Shelley), and Kathy (Rob). Robert will also be forever remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.

Robert graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Commerce, and occupied various Line Management positions at Canadian National Railways. At CN, he developed an enduring passion for policy development and strategic planning in the area of human resources, which he continued to pursue at the Business Development Bank until retirement, as Director of Human Resources.

A man of faith, he had a great love for spiritual music, and was an accomplished singer and guitar player. Family was everything to Robert. He was happiest surrounded by kids, grandkids, good food and drink. He loved to read, especially fantasy fiction, and was an avid Lord of the Rings fan. His adventurous spirit and zest for travel took him to many parts of the world.

Our heartfelt thanks go out to the compassionate staff of the Ottawa General Hospital, 5 East, for their excellent care. Special thanks to his palliative care team, Drs. Plantive and Vincent, visiting nurses, and shift nurses Ludovic and Ann. Their loving care and support enabled Robert to stay at home in his final days.

Visitation will take place at Beechwood, Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa, on Saturday, October 28 from 1p.m., followed by a Memorial Service in the Sacred Space at 2:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Robert’s memory to the Ottawa Hospital Foundation, General Hospital Oncology Unit, or to the Canadian Cancer Society.

The world has lost the most generous, honest, heartfelt, loving, and talented man - a beloved cousin. We are so grateful that we were able to visit with Rob and Gina last month - his farewell hug will stay with me until we meet again. Love and prayers to his beloved family. Eternal memory.
