We have so many happy memories from years gone by that we can reflect on. We can all look back with such fondness at all the special times we had. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. With love.
Heather and family,
On behalf of all of us at the Montreal & Ottawa Conference Office of the United Church of Canada, I offer my deepest condolences at this sad time. Over the years, Robert served his church, his community and his country well. Please know that you and your extended family are being held in our prayers.
I had the absolute pleasure of knowing Robert for close to three decades. I can remember the first time I met Robert. He had just recently entered the Regular Force - I was so impressed with him that I can remember thinking - where can we find more clergy like this to recruit.
I admired his operational focus and his rapport with the troops. His love was the Navy but he was a stellar chaplain in all three elements.
He was a brilliant preacher and he was compassionate and gifted in his pastoral care. He was approachable regardless of rank. Whether simply seeking a sounding board or sound advice - Robert was your chaplain. While being a man for all seasons may be beyond anyone's abilities - Robert could give a pretty good shot.
I consider myself blessed to have known him and to have ministered along side of him in various capacities.
Good-bye old friend. I have fond memories of our ministry in the Maritimes.Sleep well and rest in the safe arms of God. May God grant Heather and children the comfort and peace of God. Jim Leland
It is with heavy hearts to learn of Roberts passing. We are all extremely sorry to receive
this news after the trauma he has encountered.
His friendly and kind ways and the love for people will never be forgotten.
Heather you are in my thoughts and prayers. You have been a stalwart for Robert.
I have thought of you often! Take care!
Sincerely Shirley King
