In Celebration of

Michael Wing

March 31, 1959 -  May 16, 2017

Passed away at home, surrounded by the love of his family, on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at the age of 58. Beloved son of the late Chester and Joanne. Loving husband of Patricia (Baars). Father of Amy (Josh), Andra, and Meagan. He will be sadly missed by brothers, Brian (Sharon) and Paul, nieces Alyson, Ashley, Samantha, Caroline, Katie, and nephews Vince, Alex (Cindy), Josh, Cory and Phil, as well as his extended family members.

Through his love, compassion, hugs and smiles, Mike left a lasting impression on people. His kindness and generosity, most especially through his unwavering commitment to listen, understand and give genuine guidance to anyone who asked for it, will never be forgotten.
Mike was a man of many passions, and he never did anything half way. His love and care for his family always came first, but he also gave a lot of himself to his friends, colleagues at the CTA, UCTE members and fellow NA/AA members. He was a lover of music, photography and sports. We all shared interests with him because he had so many of them.

Special thanks to Max, on the Bayshore palliative nursing team, who carried us through a very difficult time.

Friends may pay their respects at Beechwood, Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services (280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa), on Wednesday, May 24th from 7 to 9 p.m., Thursday, May 25th from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 26th at 11 a.m. in St. Augustine Parish (1060 Baseline Road, Ottawa), interment to follow at Beechwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Lung Cancer Canada would be appreciated. Messages of condolence may be left at www.beechwoodottawa.ca

I had not seen Mike for years when this notice popped up. I remember him well from his work on behalf of the union working with community organizations in Ottawa.
Please accept my condolences.

I met Mike in 2002 related to a UTCE matter. Mike advocated for our teem and members of the Coast Guard SAR dive unit. We became friends and kept in touch over the years. It was hard not to like Mike his humanity and openness was refreshing and uplifting. We shared good times and bad even though separated by geography and time zones we managed to meet in Ottawa for pizza at lacollinade, in Vancouver for sturgeon fishing,or phone conversation and Facebook. Mikes smile made my heart soar like an Eagle he will always be an inspiration to me and his name and spirit will be taught to my grand children.
