In Celebration of

Mary Ruth Willison

March 28, 1954 -  June 27, 2018

Surrounded by the love of family and friends, Ruth passed peacefully on June 27. Heartbroken by her sudden loss are her cherished daughter Sara who made Ruth so very proud, her sisters Marg (Bill), Joan (Mark), and her beloved niece, Emily Gibbs. Ruth is also survived by her cousins Dawn and Anne McNevin of Cape Breton, N.S., and Judy Antonucci of Boston, Mass. Predeceased by her parents, Ken and Portia, and brother-in-law, Brian Gibbs. Ruth was born in Kingston, graduated from Queen’s and spent her teaching career in Ottawa at Colonel By. In retirement, Ruth enjoyed being involved with Sara and their large group of friends who share such a very special bond. She volunteered for The May Court Club, The Bargin Box, and Hospice and was a member of other organizations. Ruth was a special woman who traveled the world before her world was made complete by Sara. Together they made our world. She brought much joy to her family and friends. She was loved and she will be missed. Please join Ruth’s family to celebrate her life Friday, July 6, 2018 at Beechwood, Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services, (280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa) from 1 – 4pm. Words of Remembrance at 2 pm.

In lieu of flowers, Marg and Joan request donations to be made in trust to Sara Willison (cheques made out to"Margaret Willison in Trust" and submitted to the Bank of Nova Scotia Account no. 00786 06245 86, Transit no. 00786.) or to Pancreatic Cancer Research.

We wish to convey our gratitude to Ruth’s amazing friends and neighbours for their love and support.

Ruth will be so missed. So many memories with Ruth from our days of skating starting at 5yrs old through our time in high school and Queen’s. Our trip through Europe and many visits over the years. She has left a void in my life as she has for all who had the opportunity to call her a friend. Heartbroken for Sara and her family.

I shall miss one of my oldest friends. Our lives were intertwined by music and skating.
We were always going to get together one day to catch up, but time slipped away and we missed our chance. My life is enriched by having known Ruth, and I have many fond memories of her which I shall cherish.
