In Celebration of

Kenyon Nicholas Hughes

February 16, 1933 -  July 12, 2018

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ken on Thursday July 12th, 2018. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife and best friend Barbara, his beloved daughter Erica (Chris Snyder) and his cherished grandchildren Adam and Emma. Ken had a passion for learning and reading; always to be found with a book or two in his hand. He proudly earned his BA in History from Queens University at the age of 58. His career took him in many directions from designing airplane components in South Wales to teaching high school History after he emigrated to Canada in 1967 with his wife Barbara, Ken went on to spend 23 years with Nortel working in both Belleville and Ottawa. He had a love for sports, especially rugby, soccer and cricket. He coached rugby at AY Jackson and with the Eastern Ontario team and he loved every minute of it. A true Welshman at heart, Ken was a caring and loving husband and father who would do anything for his family. He will be greatly missed, never forgotten and always loved. Our heartfelt thank you to the staff at The Courtyards on Eagleson for all of their love and support. Family and friends will gather at Beechwood, Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services (280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa), on Thursday, July 19th from 10 a.m. until the time of Memorial Service at 11 a.m., followed by interment at Beechwood Cemetery. For those who wish, a donation can be made in Ken's memory to the Dementia Society of Ottawa and Renfrew County. Messages of Condolence may be left at www.beechwoodottawa.ca
