In Celebration of

John "Jack" Kearney

December 9, 1934 -  October 8, 2018

Monday, October 8, 2018 at the age of 83. Widower of Carole Anne (née Carney). Beloved father of Susan (Len van Beerschoten), the late Danny (Jennifer), Marianne (David Shum), Cathy (Tom Haberstroh), Carolyn (Geena Green) and William 'Bill' (Suzanna Nour). Proud grandfather of Morgan, Madison, Jade, Max, Ali, Dan and Aidan. Dear brother of Michael (Late Dorothy), Ann (Jacques Gauvin) and Patrick. Will be dearly remembered by his step granddaughter Erika, step great granddaughter Kyra and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brother Terry (Arlene).

Our father started his career as a member of the RCAF. A staunch supporter of labour rights, he was instrumental in the establishment of Local 2228 of the IBEW in Ottawa. He then spent the majority of his career as an international representative for the union. He left the life he loved as a well known and fierce negotiator and representative to spend more time with his family, and especially his grandchildren, in 1991.

Special thanks to the staff at Gouldbourn Village of the Carleton Lodge for the compassionate care provided to Jack for the last 10 years.

Friends are invited to pay respects at the Hall of Colours of the Beechwood National Memorial Centre, 280 Beechwood Ave. on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the Sacred Space on Friday at 10 a.m. followed by interment at Notre Dame Cemetery and reception.

In lieu of flowers, memoriam donations to the JDRF (www.jdrf.ca) are appreciated.

A very fine man and a good friend, I spent a lot of time with Jack and the "boys," at Progress Meetings, Conventions and the list goes on, but had a special appreciation for Jack's great mind and dedication to the brotherhood. Being a westerner, I didn't get to see him as often as I would have liked, but enjoyed the time I did spend with him. A man's man.......he will be missed by many of us, his "old" friends. My heartfelt condolences to the family.
