My father Robert Kingston shared the same dinner table with Joan sitting opposite her. We got to know and speak to Joan often when we visited dad which was always at meal time. She was a character telling us often of her early years on the submarine and meeting her husband on one as well. On another occasion we had a special supper and also at our table were Mary and Joan. She was a lovely lady and shall be missed for sure.
Our dad died on February 22/18 on R1N at the Perley. Joan Kingston Spooner

Susan, Mary and Bill, my deepest sympathies go out to you on the loss of your mother. I had the honor of being Keith and Joan's next door neighbour for the better part of 21 years and your parents were like my surrogate parents to me during that time period while my kids were growing up. I cherished my time in backyard discussions with Keith and got to know your mother even better after his passing. I visited her on a number of occasions after I moved 7 years ago and she always had time for me. She had a wealth of knowledge of Manor Park that was unsurpassed by anyone. I loved our conversations of the history of the area. May she rest in peace.

I was sorry to read of her death, because I would like to have spoken with her. Please tell the appropriate family member that her name should be in the Bletchley Park Honour Roll in England, because they have asked Canada to find as many people here who did work that went to England during WW2. If she has not already received a badge from them, please look up the form to fill in to submit her name. Any questions, please ask me at 613-907-9324
