In Celebration of

Ida Coles

February 9, 1949 -  January 2, 2019

Ida Dorothy Coles (née Best)

Passed away on January 2, 2019, peacefully at her home with family at her side at the age of 69.

Daughter of the late George and Sarah Best of Fogo, NL. Loving wife for 41 years to Eric.
Loving mother of William Eric, sister of Elizabeth Hulan, Stella Best, Ray best and Stan Best. Cherished Grandmother (aka nanna) of McKenzie, loved by many nieces and nephews.

Born in Lion’s Den Fogo Island, Ida graduate from Western Memorial hospital in Corner Brook as a Registered Practical Nurse. She and Eric married December 9, 1977, began their life together raising William and later she would welcome Andrea to the family. Over the years a whole lot of stray or homeless cats, such as Casey, Boo Boo and Tiny, all had a special place in her heart. As a military wife, she managed her family and household, moving with humour, and love, always looking forward to the next adventure wherever that took her. Nothing meant more to her than her family.

Ida became friends with everyone she met, whether it was through the military or the last few years on the beaches of North Myrtle beach, she will be missed by all.

The family would like to thank the PSWs and nurses from Champlain LHIN services, of particular note was Linda Rockwell, her palliative care doctor (Anthony MacDonald), the medical staff at the Montfort and Ottawa General Hospital for their exceptional care and compassion.

Friends and Family are invited to visit at Beechwood, Funeral, Cemetery & Cremation Services, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa from 1 to 3:00 PM on Thursday, January 10, until time of the interment at 3:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations to The Ottawa Hospital Cancer Center would be greatly appreciated.

To Eric, William, Family Members & Friends,
The members of the Canadian Forces Supplementary Radio (SUPRAD) System Oldtimers' Association were deeply saddened by the news of Ida's passing. A fun loving and caring Newfoundlander, Ida definitely did become friends with everyone she met. Ida will be missed at our CFS Leitrim Oldtimers' Annual Reunions, Phil's Annual Corn Boil and many other events. However, the many fond memories of all the enjoyable times that were spent together will be treasured and forever remembered. Please know that as members of your extended military family, we will be keeping you in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
