In Celebration of

Glen Elie

January 2, 1951 -  May 7, 2017

ELIE, Glen Charles. (January 2nd 1951 – May 7th 2017).
Glen died suddenly on May 7th after a short illness. He was born in Montreal, QC. to Roger and Gwendolyn Elie (née. Mowat). After a B.Sc. in Physics at McGill, he went on to complete an M.Sc. at the Rochester Institute of Technology in Imaging Science. Glen returned to Canada where he married the love of his life, Christine White, on September 20th, 1975. He then began what would be a 35 year career at Kodak in professional imaging and sales. He and Christine started their family in Montreal, where they had their two children Russell and Caroline (married to Joel Dunville). His work allowed him to travel across Canada and the United States often with his family. Glen and family moved to Ottawa in 1992, and he retired from Kodak in 2010. Not one to ever fully retire, Glen opened a photography business in 2012. He had a passion for learning and a vibrant curiosity which he brought to his work and his personal life. He enjoyed exploring new places and travelling, and was always looking for his next adventure. An amazing amateur cook, he is renowned for his BBQ’s at the cottage, and well known as a true foodie. Friends and family from Ottawa, Montreal, Toronto and elsewhere will remember Glen for his quick wit, and his selfless nature. Active and a lover of the outdoors, Glen could often be found heading out for a bike ride, going for a snowshoe, cross-country skiing, sailing, golfing and hiking. This is a loss that will be felt by many. He was taken from us too soon, but those who knew him are grateful for the time they had. Family and friends are invited to visit Beechwood, Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services, 280 Beechwood Avenue (East of Vanier Parkway), Sunday May 14, 2017 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. A Funeral service will be held in the Sacred Space of Beechwood on Monday May 15, 2017 at 11 a.m. Donations in his memory may be sent to the Humanitarian Coalition, or another charity of choice. Tributes may be sent via www.beechwoodottawa.ca
