FRIEND, Eileen Edna (nee Frame)- On April 27, 2018 passed peacefully with her daughter by her side at Alta Vista Manor in Ottawa. Daughter of the late Edna (WARREN) and Angus FRAME of Lenore Manitoba. Eileen was a talented pianist and an accomplished artist of considerable fame. A lover of nature and the natural outdoors, her paintings of the Ottawa Canal grace the walls of embassies and personal collections all over the world. Despite her considerable accomplishments in life, Eileen was most proud of her devotion to being a wife and mother. Wife to her beloved late husband and inseparable life partner John FRIEND. Sister to the late Margaret, mother of Catherine COUTURE and David (Jo-ann), grandmother of Laura and Daniel and great grandmother of Paige.

Funeral Arrangements entrusted to Beechwood, Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services, Ottawa. A private celebration of life will be held in Ottawa. Donations may be made in her name to the Canadian Diabetes Foundation.

Cathy and David, Laura and Paige,

I am so sorry for the loss of you mother/grandmother/great-grandmother. Graceful, sophisticated, refined, and cultured, Mrs Friend (as I still called her) was like no other. Her smile was as beautiful as the sun breaking through the clouds. She was gentle and considerate, but could display a steely strength when needed. Her artistic ability was simply stunning. I am so grateful to have some of her art work in my home.
Mrs. Friend was a person to look up to as I grew up. She was the epitome of genteel refinement. She will be sadly missed by all her knew her, including me, and I will be forever grateful to her for her kindness to me throughout my life time.
