In Celebration of

Claire Belter

June 8, 1944 -  November 17, 2018

Peacefully, on Saturday, November 17, 2018, Claire Belter (Labarre), beloved wife of Dawson, her cherished husband of 52 years. Most loving mother of Renee, (Gary McDonald) and grandmother of Jacob and Kaitlyn, her pride and joy. Claire's happy, kind, and thoughtful nature will be missed by her large circle of family and good friends. Born in Timmins, Ontario, Claire was a dedicated and creative teacher with the French Catholic School Board of Ottawa for over 30 years, specialising in creative arts. Like many of our valued educators in Ottawa, her gentle, caring and talented approach to teaching and learning contributed greatly to our community. In retirement, she remained active and engaged with family and friends in tennis, bridge, and social outings, and demonstrated the unconditional Christian love of others that was an example to us all. During her sudden but brief illness, Claire expressed thankfulness and happiness for her life and faith in her new life to come. The family would like to thank doctors and staff at the Ottawa General Hospital and the Queensway Carleton Hospital for their care. Dawson, Renee and family look forward to welcoming family and friends at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, 2340 Baseline Rd. on Friday, November 23, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial at Beechwood Cemetery will follow at a later date. For those wishing, donations to Hospice Care - May Court in Claire’s memory would be appreciated.
