In Celebration of

Barbara Young

August 23, 1938 -  May 16, 2018

Barbara Ann Young
(nee Reaume)
August 23, 1938 – May 16, 2018

Known best for her generosity, her love of cats and the legacy she left behind, Barbara, a loving mother to three children; Lynda Farant (Rick), Debbie Belair and Rodney Young (Krista) died peacefully with family by her side. Caring Nanna to Amanda Kalil (Matthew) and Christopher Farant, Candice, Chase and Paige Belair, Katie and Mitchell Young. She was also the loving great grandmother to Corbin and Miller Kalil. Faced with the devastating news of pancreatic cancer just two months ago, and with the help of her children and dear friends, she was able to spend the remainder of her life in the comfort of her home, surrounded by framed memories of her past, her accomplishments and her spoiled cats Mitzie and Tigger, who stayed by her side until the very end. She smiled until her last breath, thankful for the family and friends that kept her company, shared in her laughs and cherished their time with her.

A private family funeral has been held at Beechwood Cemetery. A Celebration of Barbara’s Life will be held on Friday, June 22, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at KS on the Keyes, 1029 Daze Street (South Keys Plaza) Ottawa, K1V 2G3. In memory of Barbara, donatons can be made to the Ottawa Humane Society. Tributes may be sent at www.beechwoodottawa.ca

It was a real shock to all of her friends when we heard of her diagnosis. Her family and her friend Karen (McLeod)worked tirelessly to help her to pass at home, with her family and her treasured feline friends at her side. She will be missed by the friends she has made, new and old.
My condolences to her family.
