In Celebration of

Anna Marie Hahn

December 16, 1927 -  April 17, 2017

Anna Marie (Hania) Hahn was born in Wilno, Poland (now Lithuania), to Janina (nee Dowgialo) and Jan Korczynski. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Edmund von Hahn (2006) and their only son, John Richard Hahn. Her father was an officer of the Polish Army; her mother was one of the first women trained in law in Poland. Hania spent much of her childhood at her parents' beloved country home, Romaniszki, near the eastern border of Poland. Forced to flee with her mother during World War II, they made their way to Stockholm, Sweden, where Hania grew up. Hania married fellow-Polish exile, Edmund (Pusz) von Hahn, in 1950. They emigrated to Canada after the War and initially lived in Montreal, later moving to Ottawa. Their son, John (Noni), was born in 1951. Through Ed's work for the Government of Canada and later as a consultant, they travelled extensively and had friends in many parts of the world. A great and elegant lady to the end. Mourning her in passing are many friends and her niece Flora Liebich in Canada, and friends and relatives in Poland and South Australia. Thanks to Marysia Fudakowska and Hania Grabowska for their help and support in her later years. Special thanks to the staff at Carleton Lodge, for the loving and gentle care they provided. A memorial service will be held at Beechwood, Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa, Ontario on Sunday, April 30, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. with reception to follow. For those wishing, donations can be made in her memory to The Salvation Army or the Cancer Research Society.
