In Celebration of

William Roger August

July 31, 1931 -  November 9, 2017

Peacefully at Perley-Rideau Health Centre in Ottawa. Roger is survived by wife Gail Hall, children Christopher (Laureen), Michael, Timothy, Beth (Kia), step-daughter Carolyn Hall (Denis Reale) and granddaughter Ava, sister Joan Sonnenburg (Earl) and niece Lisa, nephew Howard (Dee) and their children Arianna, Xander and Reese. Survived also by his first wife and mother of his children, Julie August.
Roger was in the army through University. He earned a BA, a Masters in Public Administration, and a Masters of Business Administration (Harvard). He then joined the federal government. He loved initiating new projects and joint ventures in northern Canada, the Halifax waterfront, Prince Edward Island, Toronto Harbourfront, and the federal-provincial Service to the Public pan-Canadian program. Later he formed a consulting company in Winnipeg. Throughout his life, he loved following his children’s progress, coaching sons’ hockey teams, spending time outside, travelling with family, meeting new people, learning about new places . . . and of course, his cats and jazz.

The family wishes to thank all the staff at the Perley-Rideau Health Centre, and particularly those in Gatineau2S, for being so caring to Roger, and helpful to the family over the past 7 months. It was truly a blessing that he was able to spend his final time there.

In memory of Roger if desired, memorial contributions can be made to the Rideau-Perley Health Centre Foundation or to the Ottawa Humane Society.
