In Celebration of

William Cadogan

February 4, 1942 -  April 29, 2016

William (Bill) John Cadogan Jr
On the 29th of April 2016, after a brief illness, Bill peacefully shuffled from this mortal coil. Much beloved brother, uncle and son, he is predeceased by his parents William and Elsie (Smith) Cadogan, and his sister Alexandra Wells. He will be dearly missed by his sister Rosemary Whitlock (Richard), his brother-in-law Stephen, and all his "monsters" to whom he was uncle extraordinaire: Yury (Meghan), Lara, Sarah (Andrew), Allee (Matt), and his grand-niece Tova. He will also be sorely missed by his Smith clan cousins and friends.
Born on February 4th, 1942, in Montreal, Bill was a life-long athlete and bibliophile. A long-time employee of the Ottawa Athletic Club, he was active until the end; never owning a car, preferring to walk or cycle. He was also an avid traveller, partial to France, Italy, and the Caribbean.
The family would like to thank the Ottawa Civic Hospital, above all the team in the ICU. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa in his honour. Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Gathering at Beechwood Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services, 280 Beechwood Ave (East of Vanier Parkway) on May 29th from 11:30a.m. until 1:30p.m. A private Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Condolences can be sent at http://beechwood.permavita.com/site/WilliamCadogan.html?s=40

I'm remembering Billy today as a sweet, gentle and kind man with a wonderful sense of humour. While he made his home in the East, I know he had a soft spot for Salt Spring Island and I think of him whenever we go there. When we have our family reunion in Muskoka this summer, let's all raise a glass to him and to his well-lived life.
Love to the Cadogans from the Victoria end of the family.

Many enjoyable seasonal family events were spent with Sir Billy over these many years. I enjoyed Billy and our laughs together with the family.
Condolences to all of his family and friends.
See you on the other side Billy.

I will miss you Uncle Billy. You were a wonderful uncle, playing and rough housing with us as children and sharing stories and advice with us as adults. You always made time for a visit whenever I came to Ottawa, you always had time for family. I'm so glad you met my daughter and held her, so tiny in your big arms. Love you. xo
