January 3, 1939 -  January 19, 2017

RITCHIE, Suzanne Gertrude (née Dwyer) on January 19th, 2017, at the age of 78. She passed away peacefully after a long series of health issues that she met with characteristic optimism, strength and dignity. Beloved wife of the late Harold S. Ritchie. Loving mother of Scott Ritchie (Sharon Leslie) and the late Krista Ritchie, and devoted Grammie to Harry. Dear sister of Dianne Hyde (Denis Hyland), David Dwyer, and Jane (Claude D'Aoust). She is survived by many sister and brothers in-law and many nieces and nephews all of whom she loved very much. The family is very thankful for the care and kindness offered Sue by Dr. Michele Raymond and staff of Bruyère --Saint-Vincent Complex Continuing Care Hospital. Friends and Family are invited to visit at Beechwood, Cemetery and Funeral Services, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa from 6 – 8pm Saturday, February 4. The Memorial Service will be held in the Sacred Space of Beechwood on Sunday, February 5, at 11am. In lieu of flowers a donation to Bruyère or the Ottawa Heart Institute is appreciated.

Sue,

Will always remember you as a brave and happy lady. Your jokes, laughter and spirit couldn't be quashed. But the thing I will always think of when thinking of you is how much you have loved and been loved.

Sue, I would be very proud to call you my friend. The reality is that you were my mother, Doris Murray's, friend - a bridge buddy, and fellow theatre-goer. Mom was as tough as old boots herself, but it resonated with me that she described you as her role model. She was in awe of your good-natured feisty courage and indomitable spirit, and I feel very privileged to have met you. May you rest in peace.
