S/Sgt John P. Briggs RCMP (Retired)

March 5, 1933 -  March 27, 2018

Passed peacefully away with family by his side on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at the age of 85, at Elisabeth Bruyere Health Centre in Ottawa. Predeceased by his parents Raymond and Josephine Briggs of Lakeville Corner, NB and his sister Rae Rowan (late Maurice) of Dartmouth, NS. He is survived by his loving wife Wilverna, his daughters Tracey (Andrew Plant) and Lori (Kevin Seidel) and special granddaughter Josie Plant of Ottawa, brother Fred (Willa) of Kentville, NS, sister Angela Faubert (David) of Lakeville Corner, NB and several nieces and nephews. John was a Freemason belonging to lodge Harbour Grace, No 476, registry of Scotland, AF and AM, Harbour Grace, NL; Shannon Chapter #1 Royal Arch Masons; Beathic Preceptory NO 71, Knights Templar; St. Johns, NL and Philae Shriners, Halifax, NS. John loved hunting, fishing, bowling and golf. He was a member of Hylands golf Club, Ottawa from 1967 to 2008. A special Thank you to all the staff at the Riverside Hemodialysis Unit, and all the staff at the Elisabeth Bruyere Health Centre for their wonderful care.

The family will receive friends at Beechwood Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services (280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa), On Tuesday, April 3, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. in Beechwood’s Sacred space, followed by Interment in the RCMP National Memorial Cemetery located at Beechwood Cemetery. For those who wish to make a donation in John’s memory you may do so towards The Ottawa Hospital Foundation – Riverside Campus Hemodialysis Unit, C.H.E.O., The MS Society of Canada or to Elisabeth Bruyere Health Centre. Wilverna and family, I am sorry that we missed John's funeral. I told Ted that day you called. My Dad, (John's buddy) Also, Passed away peacefully the next day April 4,. John and Dad shared many laughs throughout the years. Now that they are at peace they will meet up in heaven.
