Roberta (Bobbie) Evelyn Mattocks (Nee Lovett) aged 80, passed away on December 29, 2018, peacefully at her home with family at her side, after a courageous 3 year battle with ovarian cancer.
Daughter of the late Percy and Gertrude Lovett of Halifax, NS. Loving wife for 45 years to the late Lt. Col (retired) Kenneth “Randy” Mattocks.
Loving mother of Fred, Chris, John, Donald (Sue), Penelope, Patricia (Paul McGarry), Phil (Linda) and sister of Nancy (Willis Hebb). Cherished Grandmother (aka Gma) of Michael, Stephanie, Olivia, Roberta, Joshua, Sabrina, Scott, Nikki, Samantha, Maxwell, Theodore, Sarah, Katie, Travis, Kyle and Leslee, loved by many nieces, nephews and great grandchildren and pre-deceased by grandson Gareth.
Born in Halifax, Bobbie graduated from Mount St Vincent Academy in June 1957. She and Randy married September 8, 1958 and began their life together raising their children. In short order Bobbie was a loving mother of 7 kids and 2 dogs. As a military wife, she managed her family and household, moving with humour, love and aplomb throughout North America. Nothing meant more to her than her family.
Bobbie was an active member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority for 47 years. Her sorority sisters have been some of her closest friends. Bobbie will also be missed by many amazing friends she made in her condo community. Bobbie became friends with everyone she met, she will be missed by all.
The family would like to thank the PSWs and nurses from Carefor Health & Community Services, the palliative care doctors from Central Palliative Group and to everyone at The Ottawa Hospital Cancer Center for their exceptional care and compassion.
Friends and Family are invited to visit at Beechwood Cemetery and Funeral Services, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa from 6 – 8pm on Friday, January 4 and from 11 o’clock Saturday, January 5, until time of Memorial Service in the Sacred Space at 1 o’clock.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Carefor Health & Community Services (previously VON Ottawa) would be greatly appreciated.
