In Celebration of

Remi "Rocky" Paquette Royal Canadian Air Force, Captain (Ret'd)

May 26, 1928 -  June 24, 2017

Passed away in Ottawa, on Saturday, June 24th, 2017. Predeceased by his wife, Gillian, he lived his 89 years with determination, passion and lots of laughter. As a boy, he drew airplanes. As a man, he fulfilled his dream of becoming a pilot with the RCAF. He flew fighter jets in the 50s and 60s, the F-86 Sabre and F-104 Starfighter. He later flew Search & Rescue helicopters and then worked as an accident investigator with the Ministry of Transport. He loved Big Band and Boogie Woogie and was a self-taught pianist. His commitment to his family never wavered. He was a powerful motivator for his children to work hard but also find joy.
He will be fondly remembered by his children, Robert, Paul, Richard, Andrea, Diane, his nine grandchildren and extended family and friends.

Friends are invited to a Celebration of Rocky’s Life at Beechwood, Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services (280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa), on Saturday, July 8th from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Words of remembrance beginning at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to a charity of your choice.

In England Remi was affectionately known to us as Rocky. He was always animated when sharing stories about his escapades with my father! I never tired of him talking about his flying days in England and relished the visit he made to Hatfield and Dorset. He always made me very welcome whenever I visited Canada. Rocky you were always so caring and will be very much missed.
All our love Denise and Michael.

Dear Diane and family. Feeling so very sad for your loss. Diane, I remember meeting your Dad and thinking what an amazing, strong and intelligent man. A manly man if you will. I know how much you will miss your Dad and I am so glad you got to be there during his last few days.
Just know there are folks back home who will support you when you return.
We love you very much. Nancy, Darrell and Kenzie.
