Muthulakshmi Ranganathan

November 5, 1945 - August 6, 2018

Ranganathan, Lakshmi – died in Ottawa peacefully on Monday 6 August 2018 after battling a brain tumour. A well-known Veena player of South Indian classical music, she leaves behind her husband of 47 years, her lovely daughter Shoba (Adam Bruce) and two adorable grandchildren, 13 year old Shaun and 10 year old Alisha. A remembrance reception will be held at the Beechwood Cemetery, Ottawa on Friday 10 August 2018 from 6:30 to 8:30pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation will be appreciated.

I've just learned of Lakshmi's passing. I was a Bharatanatyam student of hers with Renu (Cherian) & Lesley (Rajan) when we were in our teens. She prepared us for our Arengatram by being such a constructive teacher and pushing us to be better than we thought we could be. I remember how hard we all worked and how much she helped us become better dancers. There will always be a special place in my heart for her.
