As I think of Mark's legacy, it is not his papers and books and academic success that stands out for me, but rather his steadfastness, his loyalty to his friends, and his firm conviction in who is was and is. Those of us who knew him will never forget him, but rather talk of "do you remember when Mark...".
with a heavy heart, but with peace knowing you are at peace my friend.
Mark was a great scientist-clinician, our world has lost one of our best. Mark's work has provided phenomenal clinical resources that have directly benefited members of the Canadian Armed Forces.
My friendship with Mark was through his devoted and loving husband, Phil Edwards. I only had the pleasure of spending any time with Mark on 4 or 5 occasions. But they were marked by his brilliance and style, and by his own devotion to, and love for Phil.
His work for Queen and Country is well known and much appreciated by me and all who know it. But the joy he brought to Phil will remain the touchstone for my memories of him.
May he rest in peace and may Phil know the peace and consolation brought by having had such a splendid relationship at the centre of both their lives.
Phil,
My condolences to you during this difficult time.
Vivian Luk
