I met Marion as a child when my mother and she were close friends and neighbours, but Marion and I didn't become friends until about 15 years ago when I lived in Montreal and would visit her in Ottawa. I loved those visits. She was the kind of person who lights up a room just by being there and always made me feel so welcome and appreciated. Very intelligent yet down to earth and honest, she loved to talk about just about anything but especially she liked to discuss world events. I've always remembered seeing her again after a two-year Air Force stay in Labrador - I was 7 - and knowing then how much I'd missed her. Fast forward many years and that never changed, and I am honoured to have become one of her friends. She adored her family, there was nothing more important to her, and I am sorry that I cannot be at the funeral to spend this very important day with them. A toast to Marion's grace, wisdom, style and sense of humour - she will be greatly missed.
