Marion Dormer

September 3, 1926 -  July 28, 2016

Marion Dolein, of Ottawa, formerly of Barrington Passage, Nova Scotia and Montreal, Quebec, quietly at home with family on July 28th 2016, in her 90th year. Marion was the Special Assistant to the Right Honourable Paul Martin Sr. for many years. She was also an avid supporter of her community. She was both a volunteer and a member of the Board of Directors of the Ottawa Distress Centre. During her retirement, she was well known for her support of local causes including funding a new fire hall and award winning fundraising for the Nova Scotia Arthritis Society. Many yards are still decorated with bluebirds, bird houses, and bird feeders that were hand painted by Marion. Pre-deceased by her siblings, Ruth (Mrs. H.L McCormick of Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia), James M. and Arthur E., both of Montreal. Beloved wife of the late Robert Edward William Dormer. Loving Mother of Stephen (Sandra) and Eric and Stepmother of John Frouin (Eveline Berniche). Proud Grandmother of Adam, Lee, Evelyn, Rose, Emily and James. Great grandmother to Ava, Kyla, Kian, Oden, Sylas, Shaela and Primrose. The family wish to thank the staff of the Ottawa Hospital 5NW, ICU and 7F, CCAC, Carefor Home care staff and Bayshore Home Care, particularly Joanne, for her many years of compassionate service. Special thanks to Dr. Nicolette Fellegi for our mother’s care, particularly at home. Celebration of Life to follow. Donations to the Ottawa Hospital Foundation welcome.
