In Celebration of

Lois Ann Brunet

May 11, 1939 -  January 19, 2018

Lois Ann Brunet (nee Miller) passed away peacefully at Elisabeth Bruyere Residence on the evening of Friday, January 19, 2018. She was the beloved wife of Jos Brunet for 52 years, cherished mother of Julie Ann, dear grandmother of Adrienne and Graham. She was the loving and beloved sister of Rita Chinkiwsky (Bill), and exuberant aunt to Lisa and Bill Jr.
Lois grew up in Ottawa and attended Immaculatata High School. After completing the Special Commercial Course she began her career as a legal secretary with the firm Hill and Hill. When the practice closed Lois went on to work for other prominent Ottawa lawyers including Burke-Robertson’s and Gowling and Henderson’s. She loved her work, as well as her continuing studies in English literature both at the University of Ottawa and the Ottawa Public School Board.
Lois loved Vera Lynn, Anne of Green Gables, Le Cercle Universitaire Club, the Green Valley restaurant and Holt Renfrew. Her favourite thing to make for dinner was a reservation. Lois brought whimsy, warmth and humour wherever she went, laughing until the tears flowed mere weeks before her death.
The last 15 months of her life were spent at Elisabeth Bruyere Residence, where her gracious ways endeared her to all the staff. We are deeply grateful to the nurses and PSW’s of the sixth floor for their care and kindness to mom, and to us.
Friends and Family are invited to visit at Beechwood, Cemetery and Funeral Services, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa, from 2pm Thursday, January 25, until time of Funeral Service at 3:30pm.
For those who wish, memorial contributions to the Bruyere Foundation are appreciated.
