In Celebration of

Leslie Herbert Griffiths

September 23, 1927 -  April 24, 2017

Griffiths, Leslie H.J. (Les) was born in Croydon, England on September 23, 1927 and died peacefully in hospital in Ottawa on April 24th following a short illness. Beloved husband of the late Allene Singer and dear father of Lynn (David Kent) and Wendy (Tim Cathcart-Black). Wendy pre-deceased Les earlier this year to his great sorrow. Les was loved and will be missed by his surviving sisters Renee Harvey, Valerie (Norman Brooks) and Maureen (Paul Vervoort) and by his grandchildren Fiona (Mathew Mitchell), Erik, Tyler (Amy Eileen), Michael, Malcolm, Emma and Graeme and by his great-granddaughters Stefanie and Georgia as well as his many friends and relatives in Canada, the United States and the UK. Les was retired from the RCMP and was active in the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 593. Friends are invited to join the family Tuesday, May 2, 3:00-5:00 PM, at Harmer House (848 Seyton Drive) in Bells Corners, where Les spent his final years, to drink a toast and share memories. A private family burial will take place earlier in the day at Beechwood Cemetery to reunite Les with his beloved Allene. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Queensway Carleton Hospital are appreciated.

My heart goes out to all of you, I remember Leslie very well....back in the day when the unit was just getting started we were like a big family. Roy loved what he did, although I know he expected his group to do a lot....but he was respected. That was evident at his funeral in 2013. Remember every day is a gift, treat it as if it were your last.
