You set the standard for many of us Ken.
Quiet and modest as well.
I only found out in recent years that you were a great jazz pianist as well.
We shall miss you.
Condolences to the family.
Rest in peace my friend.
Steve

I had been in touch with Ken over the past several years and enjoyed our emails very much. Ken was an interesting man who had great stories to tell. His mind was always so sharp and his wit was always so ready. I will miss our emails and his wonderful stories. But I also know that he missed Olga very much and is with her now, Peace to you and your family as he is also at peace now.

First of all, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of LCol (ret'd) Kenneth Jacobs. This distinguished and highly accomplished patriot taught me much about this country's military history and Black History and was extremely supportive of my community work in these two areas. I will miss the annual reflections he would email us to mark Black History Month, Emancipation Day and Remembrance Day. I would always find in these messages nuggets of knowledge I ended up sharing (with his permission) with listeners of my radio show in Ottawa. I would always look for him at the national Remembrance Day ceremony at the Cenotaph in Ottawa, and would be so proud to see him chatting with appreciative Canadians after the parade, many of whom probably weren't event aware that there has been a tradition of military service by Black Canadians since way before Confederation. To me, Mr. Jacobs represented a living link to this little known and hugely under-appreciated contribution made by our community to this country. He will be sorely missed. And I most humbly thank him for his service to this country both in his military and civilian life.

Ken, thinking about you and your family at this time. My parents are from Ottawa, and are both in Beechwood Cemetary. I have visited the National Military section of Beechwood; it always moves me.
