September 3, 1964 -
May 29, 2016
FEKETE, Kelly – Passed peacefully at home, in Metcalfe on Sunday, May 29, 2016. Loving mother of Jessica Fekete. Cherished sister of Sue (Paul) Dokuchie and John Fekete. Beloved daughter of John and Marlyne Fekete. Caring aunt of Alysha, Amanda, Garrett and Megan. Kelly will be deeply missed by her family as well as her many friends and RCMP colleagues both in British Columbia and Ontario. At Kelly’s request any member serving our country (Police, Fire, etc.) are asked to please attend in uniform. Friends are invited to attend a visitation at Beechwood, Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services (280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa), on Friday, June 3, 2016 from 12 noon to 2:00 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Kelly’s life at 2:00 p.m. in Beechwood’s Sacred Space. Interment, RCMP National Memorial Cemetery at Beechwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Osgoode Historical Museum would be appreciated by the family.
Kelly was a woman who was extremely proud to serve her country. She went head first into gaining volunteer experience with Victim Services in North Vancouver while relentlessly chasing her dream. In 1996 she graduated with Troop 20 from Depot and in July would have celebrated her 20th anniversary as an RCMP officer. Despite offers of promotion, Kelly chose to remain a Constable so she could stay out on the road and help communities stay safe.
During her transfer to Ottawa from Coquitlam, British Columbia she invested significant time researching the history of her home and township. She contributed to the Osgoode Township Historical Society and Museum (heritage garden + more) and the town of Metcalfe itself (murals and street lights).
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Dr. Teisha Legault, Dr. Xinni Song, Bayshore Health, Saint Elizabeth, At Home Hospice, her friends, coworkers, and community members of Metcalfe for their outstanding kindness and care assisting Kelly and her family throughout her final journey. We couldn't have done it without you.
