In Celebration of

Katharine Joanna Desmond-Allen

March 20, 1949 -  July 2, 2016

After a long and courageous battle, Katharine passed peacefully on July 2, 2016 at the age of 67. Beloved wife to Paul, devoted mother to Rachel and Cal, cherished sister to Patricia Renahan (John) and John Desmond, dear sister-in-law to Diane Ryan (late Lorne), Kurt Allen (Marg), Dale Odorizzi (Dan) and Kim Allen (Cathy), caring friend to Page Cormier and her children Susan, Robert, Greg and Mark. She was also a loving aunt to her nieces and nephews and loyal friend to many. A resident of Ottawa, Montreal and Moncton, Katharine worked in medical research with special focus on Cystic Fibrosis and Traffic Injury Studies. When she was not busy being a proud Mom and chauffeur for her children, Katharine was an avid crafter with a love for sewing, tole painting and cross-stitching. She will be dearly missed by all her family and friends. She has left them with many wonderful memories, as well as all her beautiful handiwork.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 15 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Beechwood, Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 16 in Beechwood's Sacred Space. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Parkinson Canada in Katharine’s memory.

..when I think of Katharine, I immediately remember her canopy bed in Montreal West at Aunt Pat's house! I also remember my dear second cousin, along with Patsy, making sure I survived a severe car accident and my extend time in Montreal's Children's Hospital. It was kind of awesome having your cousins do your blood work and x-rays!

No more pain just a bright smile and star shining down on all of us! I envy you as you get to be with the party pack up in heavn! Say hi to Aunt Pat and Grandma Barry for me! Much love, Jill xoxo
