August, Julie Anne Stuart (nee Mulkins)
November 16, 2017-January 10, 2018
Passed away peacefully at her home in the Glebe Centre surrounded by family. Julie was predeceased by her parents, Anna and Harold Mulkins and her brother Edward Mulkins. Julie is survived by her children Christopher (Laureen), Timothy, Michael and Beth (Kia). She is also survived by her beloved sister in-law Jill Mulkins and nephew and nieces, Stephen (Joanne Brewer), Catherine (Joe Murphy). Christine (Jeff Wigle) and Jenny (Phil Presnal). Julie received her B.Ed in 1955 and was a proud and dedicated teacher for the Ottawa Public School Board for over 30 years. Julie taught French and English to elementary students throughout Ottawa and took great pleasure and pride in her work. Julie also had a strong belief in community and helping others. She was an active member of the May Court Club of Ottawa for over 50 years. Julie was never happy sitting idle. She had a love of the arts, both amateur and professional, and was constantly “on the go”, attending concerts, plays, speakers, chamber music, art galleries, historical tours and many other events. Julie cherished her time at her family cottage at Marshall Bay, but she also could be found skiing, hiking, and travelling, most often with her cherished long-time friend Ann Pepper. In recent years, Julie and Ann continued to enjoy concerts together at the Glebe Centre.
The family would like to thank her loyal and loving caregivers Aliete and Rada, who offered her daily comfort and care. Thanks also to Kia and Scott for their love and support.
Julie will be especially remembered for her kind and giving nature, her intelligence and humour and her love for her community, family, friends, and beloved pets. A memorial will be held in the summer, to remember and celebrate Julie. Memorial Donations may be made to the Ottawa Humane Society and May Court Hospice
Please join Julie’s family on Saturday, August 18th, 2018, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church (400 St. Laurent Blvd) for the Funeral Mass at 12 noon.
