John "Butch" Goderre MCpl (Retired) RCAF

February 26, 1940 - August 27, 2018

Passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at the Ottawa General Hospital on Monday, August 27th, 2018; age 78 years. Beloved husband of the late Irene “Gwen” Goderre (neé Shorey). Loving father of Michael (Sharon), Cathy-Lynn (Chris) and Tracey. Cherished grandfather of Jason, Steven, Mary, Grace, Jonathan and Michael. Brother of the late Robert (Lucy) Goderre and brother-in-law of Darlene (Keith) Stone. Son of the late Jean and Nina Goderre. He will be sadly missed by many extended family members and close friends.

Butch proudly served Canada for 35 years, he was also well known to friends and family as a handyman and helped many with home renovations and projects.

Guests are invited to Beechwood, Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services (280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa), for a Celebration of Life on Saturday, September 8, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A private interment will take place at Notre Dame Cemetery. For those who wish to make a donation in memory, you may do so towards the Canadian Cancer Society.

Thinking of you at this difficult time. I will always remember Uncle John's zest for life and his kindness to those who crossed his path. In the face of adversity and illness, he never complained and always remained positive. His strength of character is an inspiration to many. May all your family memories of love shared over the years be a source of comfort to you now and in the days ahead.
