Jane Wardlaw (née Milsum)
Passed away suddenly in Ottawa on April 18th at the age of 85. Beloved wife of 61 years to Bob; mother to Stephen (Margaret Wallace), Anne (Eric Teutsch), Michael (Jill Jensen), Patricia (Peter Laurich), and Laura (Greg Osborne); grandmother to Jason, Jeff, Andrew, Alex, Bruce, Laura, Shannon, Charlie, Jack and Heather; predeceased by brother John Milsum (Eileen), sister Frances Allard, sister-in law Janet Wardlaw, and brother-in-law Tom Wardlaw (Grace). Jane spent most of her formative years in England, moving to Canada in 1948 to join her sister. She settled in Ottawa where she met Bob, a colleague of her brother John at the National Research Council, and they were married in 1954. She quickly embraced Bob's Canadian lifestyle, canoeing in summer and skiing in winter, and was an enthusiastic supporter of all her children's and grandchildren's activities whether in academic, athletic or artistic endeavours. Her love for her extended family was unconditional, providing a well of emotional support. She touched so many and will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Family and friends are invited to Beechwood, Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services, 280 Beechwood Avenue (East of Vanier Parkway), Friday, April 24, 2015 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at 11 a.m. in the Sacred Space of Beechwood.
Donations to the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society or the Montfort Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated. Tributes may be sent via Lifetimes at www.beechwoodottawa.ca
