In Celebration of

Jane Fisher

January 11, 1946 -  October 10, 2016

FISHER, Jane Isobel (née Edwards)
January 11th, 1946 – October 10th, 2016
~Painter, Papermaker, flamenco dancer, bridge player, collector, computer programmer, muse to gypsies; Beloved mother, sister, grandmother and friend~
Born in Ottawa, Jane studied art at the Maastricht Academy of Fine Arts and the Nova Scotia college of Art and Design. She returned to Ottawa to study computer programming. Her family and friends were elevated by her brilliance, her exquisite aesthetic sense, her enduring loyalty with its practical, life-sustaining dimensions, her artistic talent married to that mathematical mind, her wit, and her equanimity in the face of death. If you wanted help with the dishes, you’d call someone else - but in an emergency you wanted Jane.
Jane is predeceased by parents Margaret de Jourdan and James Edwards and beloved ex-husband Charles Fisher. The second of five close-knit children, Jane leaves behind siblings Edmond, Campbell, Marnie (Robert Gardiner) and Wallace (Kate Freeman) and sister-in-law Darlene Dudar.
Survived and loved eternally by daughter Caitlin Fisher (Jodi) and carried in the hearts of her grandchildren Melisa (Omarre), Harriet, Stella-Charles, Mitchell and Aedan, niece Elizabeth (Darren) and nephew David (Claudia). We will tell Jane’s stories to her great-grandchildren, great-nieces and great-nephews. She will be missed by cousins and friends, but perhaps by no one more than James Coates, her constant and devoted companion.
Friends and Family are invited to visit at Beechwood, Cemetery and Funeral Services, 280 Beechwood Avenue (east of Vanier Parkway), Ottawa from 2 – 4pm and 6 – 8pm Sunday, October 16. A Memorial Service will be held at Mackay United Church, 39 Dufferin Road, Ottawa, Monday, October 17, at 11:30am with inurnment to follow at Beechwood Cemetery.

For those who wish, memorial contributions to MacKay United Church are appreciated.
