With deep sorrow we announce the death of Jana Jarmila Zikmund of Ottawa, age 82, on July 30, 2014 after a courageous 3 year struggle with cancer. Jana was the beloved wife and partner to her husband Zdenek for the past 62 years and the cherished mother of daughters Olga (Frank) and Marcella (Stan). Loving daughter of Anna and Karel Trpák. She is survived by her dear sister Dagmar, her grandchildren Mark (Robyn), Daniel (Sheera), Maddie, Alec and great-grandchildren Maxwell, Ziggy and Ruthie. Much beloved and fondly remembered by relatives and friends in Canada and in the Czech Republic. Jana enriched the lives of everyone who knew her. She lived her life with grace and dignity, was devoted to her family and always had compassion and empathy for all. The family wishes to thank the many doctors, nurses and caregivers who so lovingly supported her. Cremation and Funeral Mass has taken place. Should you wish, donations can be made to Jana’s favourite charities, which include the Canadian Cancer Society, World Vision or the Ottawa Humane Society.
