In Celebration of

Heather Mary Sutherland

July 28, 1943 -  January 26, 2017

Heather Sutherland (nee Griffith)

Mother to Thomas, Grandmother to Alice, Sister to Honor and Julie (Don); much loved aunt to Megan and Alexis; dog devotee to Kira, cat lover to Buddha and a friend to many.

Heather was born in Hindhead England outside of London in 1943, during WWII when her mother served in the Women's Army Corp in England. Heather survived the war, the London blitz and returned to Canada to grow up in the 50s and 60s; beat Generation, jazz and poets.

She later moved into the Gatineau Hills and found her home in the magic of these hills. Years have come and gone filled with many friends that she has gotten to know and treasure. We have all shared in those joyous moments of laughter with her.

She is gone but her boundless generosity and strength of spirit is reflected in her son Thomas and her joyfulness shining on the face of her grandchild Alice.

The protector of lost animals, loud laugher, happiest near hills, forests, rivers and all wild things. Always warm, sensitive, caring. Our hearts are broken.

We will miss you rest in peace.

Julie and family.
My deepest sympathy during this difficult time. As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends.

I am so sorry for your loss. The people at work tell me that you were very close to Heather Mary and spent a lot of time with her, especially during and after her recent surgery. I cannot, in words, empathize with the deepness of your sorrow; but I can reassure you that you will always be thankful for the time you spent with her, especially more recently when her needs were great. I pray for the Lord's peace and comfort in your heart at this time. Tina Gravelle

Heather was a true beauty inside and out. We will miss her bright smile, joyous laugh, enlightening conversation, and generous glasses of wine. Our heartfelt condolences to her family. xoxox
