Gladys Marie Savard (née Kielly)

July 3, 1932 -  January 24, 2016

SAVARD (nee Kielly), Gladys Marie, passed away on Sunday, January 24 at the age of 83. Beloved wife of 60 years of Francois. Loving mother of Suzanne (Doug Southen), Gabrielle (Clarence Kort), Marianne (Richard Turcotte) and Jean-Francois (Jennifer Verret). Grandmother of John (Leslie), Eric and Marc Southen; and Louis and Patrick Turcotte. Sister of Bill Kielly (Alice Finnerty). Predeceased by William Kielly and Gladys Carroll.
Gladys graduated from Memorial University College (St-John’s NFLD) and Mount Saint Vincent University (Halifax) and worked as a dietician at the Riverside Hospital of Ottawa and the Centre d’Accueil Champlain. As a military spouse, Gladys lived and raised the family in many places in Canada and Europe. She volunteered with the Girl Guides of Canada for many years.
Gladys loved life and was a lifelong learner, learning languages and history to enrich her worldwide travels. She loved music, singing, dancing, birdwatching, camping and gatherings of family and friends.
Friends are invited for a visitation at the Beechwood National Memorial, 280 Beechwood, Ottawa (613-741-9530), on Wednesday 27 January, 7-9 PM. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday January 28th at Ste-Genevieve Church, 825 Canterbury at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ottawa Food Bank or the Alzheimer’s Society.

Chères Suzanne et Gabrielle,
C'est avec tristesse que j'ai appris le décès de votre mère ce matin. Je me rappelle de l'avoir rencontrée il y a de ça plusieurs années, quand vous étiez toutes les deux encore dans l'armée. Elle était très gentille.
Je vous offre, à vous, à votre père et à toute la famille, mes plus sincères condoléances.
Je ne pourrai malheureusement pas venir au salon mercredi soir ni assister aux funérailles jeudi. Je penserai tout de même à vous et je vous enverrai mes prières.
J'ai fait un don à sa mémoire à la Société de l'Alzheimer.
