In Celebration of

Floyd Joseph Neville

April 18, 1925 -  January 16, 2018

Floyd Joseph (Bud) Neville passed away peacefully at the age of 92 on Tuesday January 16, 2018 at Elizabeth Bruyère Hospital after a short illness. Beloved father, grandfather, husband and special friend, he leaves behind his children Nancy, Peter, Cynthia (Stephen Bloom), Natalie and Genevieve (Rob Gunstone), his grandchildren Pierre Lermusieaux (Jovana Orabovic), Alison Gunstone and Melissa Gunstone, as well as his wife Joan Brooks Neville and his special friend of many years Thérèse Rivest. He is predeceased by his sister Olive Howe (Gerald Howe) and his infant brother James Neville.

Bud earned a Master’s of Social Work from Carleton University in 1953, and spent his career in the Federal Public Service working on social policy and constitutional issues within the Department of Northern Affairs & National Resources, Privy Council Office and Treasury Board Secretariat. At an early age, he developed a deep and abiding respect for the Inuit, their culture, their land and their traditions, and over the years continued to work and to travel in the Arctic. He was gifted with a deep sense of social justice, and a sense of humour that followed him even in his illness. He touched the lives of many with his generosity of spirit and his warmth. He will be missed by many.

The family wishes to thank the staff in the Neurology Department at the Ottawa Hospital Civic Campus and the staff at the Elizabeth Bruyère Hospital Palliative Care Unit for their compassionate and attentive care during his illness.

Friends and Family are invited to visit at Beechwood, Cemetery and Funeral Services, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa, from 7 to 9 pm, Friday, January 26, and Saturday, January 27 at 10 am, until time of Funeral Service in the Sacred Space at 11 am.

For those who wish, memorial donations can be made to the Ottawa Hospital Foundation or the Bruyère Foundation.
