My deepest and most heartfelt condolences to all the family
Ferne was my first friend when I arrived in Ottawa from Scotland in 1950!. We shared so many wonderful childhood adventures together. We loved being outdoors. skating on the canal or at St Lukes rink. As we lived so near the Auditorium across from the museum we went to many events together. We were so resourceful and found ways to see Elvis Presley, Sonja Henie and other famous skaters> Always together, sweet young girls we were totally gifted in achieving our goals! Ferne was a gifted writer & loved Shakespeare. I never knew her mother as she had died when the girls were very young. She was raised by her wonderful, hard working dad who was blind but very aware of everything. It is with great sadness that I say goodbye to my dear dear friend but our joyful memories together live on!
My deepest condolences to you all. I remember sitting around the kitchen table drinking many cups of tea with Kim and "ma" Peever during high school - she always had good advice for us no matter what was going on at the time. I remember when I was getting married, my Grandmother was making my dress, but I had no idea what fabric to get. Ma Peever said wedding dresses should be made of peau de soie, so that's what I got. My grandmother said it was the best choice!
I will always think of her as a gentle, quiet, but strong woman who understood how confusing the teen years could be and always made me feel welcome in her home. I'm sure you will miss her greatly.
Sorry to hear about your lost take care Lori.
