Eva Marie Lucille Levesque, Capt. (Ret'd) Canadian Army/CAF
Sep 23, 1928 - May 20, 2018

Eva Marie Lucille Levesque passed away peacefully at Rockland Manor (Rockland, ON) at age 89 after a courageous battle with cancer. The second of eight siblings, Eva was raised in the small town of Pohénégamook, Quebec. At an early age she had the desire to see the world. She graduated in Nursing while residing with an aunt whom she held dear in Montreal, QC.

In her twenties, Eva joined the Royal Canadian Army and spent 26 years serving our country in the Army and Canadian Armed Forces, retiring in 1981 as Nursing Night Supervisor at the National Defence Medical Centre (NDMC). Eva continued working as a civilian nurse supervisor at NDMC and in another position helping members with Harassment Prevention and Resolution issues until 2007.

Eva spent much time traveling in Canada and internationally, including from her tour of duty in Germany. Eva also taught nursing and took much pride in doing so. Eva had a passion for art, traveling, gardening, army events and renovating her lovely home. She was a champion for women, always encouraging them to educate themselves to reach their full potential. She also supported numerous charities which she held dear.

She lived most of her senior years in Ottawa in her adorable, well-kept home (Eva's pride and joy) on Florence Street. Eva survived all her siblings, about whom she never stopped talking, especially her baby brother Andre Lévesque. She leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.

The Staff, Nurses and Caregivers at Rockland Manor gave so much care and compassion to Eva throughout her two and a half year stay. Many thanks to them for their dedication.

Eva will be put to rest at Beechwood Cemetery in Ottawa, ON.

Eva Marie Lucille Lévesque, capt. (Retraitée) Armée canadienne /FAC
23 Sept, 1928 - 20 Mai, 2018

My father, Mr. Manuel Barbosa, has been a resident at Manoir Rockland Manor since December 2015. I go to see him almost every day and, as a result, I had the opportunity to come to know Mme. Levesque. She was a lovely person both inside and out and I had the pleasure of speaking with her and learning about her very interesting life. She always had a kind word for my father and watched out for him in her own way. She always had a complimentary word for me when I wore something she liked which made me feel special because she exuded such a sense of style and class. It was with great sadness that I witnessed her courageous battle with that horrid disease. However, right to the final day I saw her, she maintained her class and her dignity. I have wonderful memories of her and I hope that her family and friends also have wonderful memories that will help them celebrate her life while mourning her passing. On behalf of my dad, whom she called ‘papa’ because that is what everyone called him, my husband, Patricio Lucero, whom always made her smile with some comment or compliment to her, and myself, we wish to extend our condolences to Mme. Levesque’s family and friends.
