In Celebration of

Elizabeth 'Betty' Vineyard

April 13, 1932 -  December 18, 2018

Passed away at age 86 on December 18 after a stroke on November 15. Betty passed comfortably at her home surrounded by her loving family and purring Bijoux. She was the devoted wife of George (pre-deceased 2016) and beloved mother of Wendy (John Mason), Judy (Ken Simpson), and Mitch (Tina Erbs); grandmother of Jackson Strobel, Chelsea Vineyard and Katrina Vineyard. Betty was a strong, fun-loving woman with a passion for her family, friends, animals of all kinds and the outdoors, especially the family cottage at Lac McFee built by George.

Born in Cornwall, Betty married George in 1957 and shared many life adventures during George’s postings as an RCMP officer in Cornwall, Timmins, Kirkland Lake and Ottawa. While raising a growing family, Betty worked at the Royal Bank. She enjoyed: curling, travel, playing bridge and a glass of wine with her many close friends. More recently, she regularly volunteered at the gift shop at the Perley and Rideau Veterans' Health Centre.

Friends are invited to Betty’s Celebration of Life at 1 pm, Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Beechwood Cemetery (280 Beechwood Ave. Ottawa). Visitation on Friday January 11 from 6 to 8 pm at the same location. For those who wish to commemorate Betty, donations are welcomed for the Perley and Rideau Veterans' Health Centre and the Ottawa Humane Society.

I was very privileged to have met Betty many years ago and what a delight she was. It was obvious how much she loved her family. Now she is with George. My condolences to all the family.

I have spent the last decade going on yearly trips with Betty to do Christmas shopping and play cards. We also had monthly lunches (I was included with the RBC women even though I didn't work there) to catch up. Betty will be sorely missed, but she had a wonderful life with family and friends. My thoughts are with her family, she was a very special lady.

So our trip to P.E.I. would be the last time we saw each other but my memories of Betty will be of a fun loving person who always made others feel special. You will be missed. Blessings to all her loved ones.
