Peacefully, in Ottawa on September 18, 2018 in her 94th year. Eleanor Jean Krys, beloved wife of the late Anthony C. Butler, Q.C. and dearly loved mother of Kathryn Anne (Yvon Malette), Jennifer Joy and Charles Anthony Butler. Darling granny of David Anthony Malette (Janique Greffe) and beloved grandmother of Stéphanie (Stéphane), Alain and Patrice (Isabelle) Malette. Beloved sister of Lorrane Tocher (Gordon) and dearest sister-in-law of Joyanne Curran (William) and the late Mary Jean Reid (late Warren). Dearest aunt to many nieces and nephews in Alberta and Montreal. Eleanor was the beloved daughter of the late Anna Poulsen and the late Stephen Krys of Edmonton, Alberta. Mom was born in Edmonton, Alberta and graduated from the University of Alberta in 1947. She moved to Ottawa to work in the Canadian Patent Office as a patent examiner. It was while working there that she met her beloved Tony, a young lawyer, and they married and began their life together. After Dad’s death in 1970, Mom remarried and returned to work where she met many lifelong friends.

Friends and Family are invited to visit in the Sacred Space of Beechwood, Funeral, Cemetery & Cremation Services, 280 Beechwood Avenue, on Friday, September 28, 2018 from 10am until a celebration of Eleanor’s life at 11am. Interment will take place at Notre Dame Cemetery.

Our sincere and heartfelt thanks to the very caring and compassionate staff at Madonna Long Term Care for their wonderful care of Mom over the past years.

Donations in Eleanor’s memory can be made to the Shepherds of Good Hope or the Ottawa Food Bank.
