Davena McMahon

January 5, 1928 -  May 5, 2017

Born Davena Stewart in Aukland, New Zealand on June 5th, 1928, she died, sourrounded by loved ones, at the Maycourt Hospice in Ottawa on May 5th, 2017.

Ena was an energetic, hardworking and loving woman. She trained and worked as a nurse in Scotland before setting sail for Canada where a job awaited her in Ontario. On the boat ride over, Ena met Max MaMahon from Montreal so she changed her plans, moved to Montreal and married Max in 1957. They had 4 children, Stewart (Deborah), Sheenagh (Ron), Stephen (Heather) and John Paul. The family moved to Ottawa in 1970.
Nothing was more important to Ena than her family, her greatest joy was to spend time with her children and their families. She took great care to make things special for each person. Her beloved grandchildren Eric, Sarah, Fiona, Stephanie, Laura, Alex, Emily and Hilary and her great-grandchildren Amy and Max will carry her in their hearts always. Her sister Margaret (Katherine) and he many nieces and nephews, in Canada and abroad, will miss her greatly.
Friendship was one of Ena’s greatest strengths. Ena was a model of what a friend should be, loving, loyal, supportive and fun, she will be missed by many people.
Ena’s Christian faith supported her throughout her life. She was an active and much loved member of the congregation of Westminster Presbyterian Church. The Memorial Service will be held at the church, (570 Roosevelt Ave., Ottawa,) on Saturday, May 20th at 11 a.m.
