In Celebration of

Craig Beattie Wilson

November 5, 1926 -  December 3, 2018

Craig Wilson passed away peacefully on December 3, 2018 at the Montfort Hospital at the age of 92. Born to James Wilson and Candace Wilson in 1926 in rural Southern Ontario, he lived a long and productive life.

A teacher by profession, Craig was a cultured gentleman and a devoted father. Retiring from his successful teaching career in the early eighties, he cultivated his love of gardening and classical music, and sought fulfillment in travel to exciting and exotic destinations. As a family man, he was a respected father, grandfather, and head of the Wilson family.

In 2018, he marked his 50th wedding anniversary. His wife Donna, his daughter Nicole (Mauricio Vasquez), his son David (Raquel Wu), and his grandchildren, Abella and Bruce, will miss him dearly. His nearest relatives are his sister Alice Wilson, his nephew Andrew Quick, and his niece Candiss Mills. He is predeceased by his sister Lenore Mills.

Over the years, friends and family were delighted with the many intriguing stories Craig shared of his early life in Monkton, Ontario as well as his teaching career, beginning in a one room schoolhouse and later spanning several far-flung locations such as Dryden, Thunder Bay (Lakehead), and, finally, Ottawa.

The family would like to express our thanks to the doctors and nurses of the Montfort Hospital. We would also like to express our gratitude to Dr. Selina Jaffer and Dr. Cathy Braidek, Craig’s personal doctors.

A celebration of Craig’s life will take place at Beechwood Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa, on Sunday, December 30 from 1 to 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation to a charity of your choice would be most welcome.

Probably my first babysitter. Always there for me. Spent so many Christmases with me. Even checked on me during the recent blackout in Nepean. Always there to give me advice on gardening. For so many reasons, he will be missed. A gentle, kind soul. May you be surrounded by classical music and all our loved ones that have gone before you.

We met Craig a few years ago, when we were some of the first ones to move into East Market 3. It didn't take us long to discover this gentleman's friendly personality, his ever present smile, and his support for the condo community. Craig and Donna were stalwarts of the social life at EM3, partaking and contributing to every event. We have kept in touch even though we have moved, and we shall miss him dearly. Our sincerest condolences to Donna and the family.

Mr. Wilson was always kind and welcoming to me, and to everyone. Soft-spoken and gentlemanly, he took interest in how you were doing, what you were up to, and he shared many great stories from his past. I am grateful to have shared so many fond memories and times.
