It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Andrew Blake McIntosh at the Viva Barrhaven Retirement Community with his devoted family by his side. Blake is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Thelma (nee MacLean). Adored father of Andrew (Michèle Thibault), and Judy Gamey (Robert), cherished Grampie to Rachel Gamey (Patrick Brown), and John Gamey, as well as his beautiful great-grandchildren Emmett and Evelyn Brown. Blake is also survived by his sister Anne Cork, sister-in-law June Beveridge, and many nephews and nieces. He is predeceased by his parents Hazel and Harry, his brother George, and brother-in-law Lynn (Bev) Beveridge.

Blake had incredible strength and courage, love of family, and a wonderful sense of humour that brightened the world around him. He faithfully served with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police for 22 years, as well as being an active member and two-term Dominion President of the RCMP Veterans’ Association. Blake also held a distinguished career with Transport Canada before establishing Aviation Security Consultants of Canada.

Special thanks to the wonderful staff at Viva Barrhaven Retirement Community for their care, kindness, and assistance and to Dr. McCurdy, Hematology, Ottawa General Hospital and Dr. Glover, University of Ottawa Heart Institute, who provided exceptional care to Blake.

A celebration of life will be held at Beechwood Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. Friends and family are invited to visit from 1:00 p.m.
